Dear Sunset
Dear Sunset

Today was most exquisite as
I took time to stop
To visit with some friends
From ‘round the way
How they added joy to my day!
I love just catching up
With those who fill my cup
With love
And simple fun filled events
All of which are sent from above.
Oh sunset, dear sunset,
As I spied you going down,
The reds and blues,
Your colorful hues added a spark to my day.
I never felt this way!
Until I started to see the
True and heavenly
Beauty
In a simple sunset.
You are glorious and yet
I am no longer sad
Like I was when I lost
My dad.
Sunsets haunted me then
Because he died at six ten
And, I remember that on every
nightfall
It was a time to call
On everything I could to save me
From the ghosts of my past,
So chilling and haunting
Those dark nights did last.
Then one day
An angel came my way
And made me sit
And watch with it
As the sun was going down
Almost touching the ground
With embers of the
Brightest red
For once I did not think of the dead
Just the sheer beauty of the sun
When His day is done
And oh how freeing it was... and still is.
